Templates & Tools

I often find myself looking for ways to improve the day-to-day lives of my peers and partners through process automation and insight delivery.  What you'll find below are some of the tools and templates that I've developed and use in the projects that I manage.

Burn-Up with Projected Velocity

This template emerged from countless grueling status meetings where delivery consistently fell short of the velocity guideline due to the overly simplistic calculation method (total points divided by the number of available sprints). By factoring in ramp-up periods and global holidays, your burn-up charts can achieve greater accuracy, offering more reliable progress predictions based on realistic capacity estimates throughout the project.

Stakeholder Registry & Communication Plan

Possibly one of the most overlooked—but essential—documents is the Stakeholder Registry. While it’s typically just a straightforward list of individuals to keep informed, this template adds a layer of analysis to quantify and refine the expected stakeholder experience. It also integrates seamlessly into the communication plan, ensuring a more strategic and impactful approach.

Requirements Traceability Matrix

Product prioritization can often feel like an emotional tug-of-war, with each team passionately advocating for their capabilities—sometimes at odds with their peers. By applying the RICE methodology to quantify the business value of requirements, this process shifts towards a more objective and transparent discussion. This approach fosters honest conversations, helping teams focus on true business needs and overall impact.

Risk & Issue Register

Risks are an inevitable part of any project, and much like product prioritization, they carry an emotional weight. To move past subjective biases, it's essential to adopt a structured approach that evaluates risks based on group consensus, focusing on their severity and likelihood. This method ensures a more balanced and objective assessment, paving the way for more effective risk management
